Welcome to our Classroom!
Devorim in Hebrew means "bees" and that is just what we are - busy as bees! We emerge ourselves into a variety of different themes each month, such as Jewish Holidays, letters and their sounds, and seasons and weather. We investigate, learn and celebrate them all with arts, crafts, story, song and much more.
From the beginning of the year, children become familiar with a consistent daily routine transitioning from out door and indoor free play, teacher guided activities including large and small group times as well as snack and lunch times. This provides a predictable sense of continuity for the children with a balance of structured and unstructured time, just right for encouraging creativity, independence and helping to prepare for the next step, the Pre-Kindergarten class. The children of the Devorim Class are older 3 to 4 year olds, so through interactive games and learning centers, we work on social and group skills such a turning taking and sharing. Fostering verbal communication and encouraging self help skills are achieved through interactive games and learning centers. An emphasis is placed on expressing feelings and promoting friendly relationships. For cognitive learning, children work on acquiring letter and number recognition as well as writing skills in a developmentally appropriate ways, such as frequent stories and other listening, visual and hands on activities.
We love visitors, so feel free to make arrangements with the office to come and see all the fun we have every day!
